Gary Bandy is a CIPFA accountant who had a 19-year career in local government finance culminating with three years as Director of Financial Services at Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council. Since becoming an independent consultant in 2005 he has worked in the charity sector, in education, policing, local government and in the private sector. He has particular expertise in outsourcing and partnerships by public bodies.
Gary is also a successful lecturer. He is an Associate Fellow of Warwick Business School (from where he holds an MPA), has taught at Cardiff Business School and at the University of Nottingham. In December 2008 he was a member of the Institute of Governance and Public Management team that ran a financial management course for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Juba, South Sudan.
Gary’s book, Financial Management and Accounting in the Public Sector, was first published by Routledge in July 2011 and a second edition was published in November 2014.
